We all got involved in consulting because each of us has a fundamental desire to help people solve technology challenges. In our periodic surveys of our people we ask why they enjoy consulting. The majority of their responses are consistently around the learning and the satisfaction of helping people work through technology problems. Successful client engagements are rewarding experiences and we value that above all else.

Our Philosophy

PlanNet Consulting's methodology is based on our core values and several guiding principles.

  • Integrity and courage mean more than technical knowledge - If only because they are in short supply.
  • Clients deserve value - Clients employ us because they need us to contribute in meaningful and valuable ways, not just participate.
  • Clients come first - A commitment to a client is a sacred vow.
  • Communicate first; consult second - Understanding usually takes more time than finding solutions. If we don't understand what the client truly needs, then how can we offer alternatives and solutions?
  • A lot of common sense goes a long way - Projects often get complex; healthy doses of common sense and perspective enable you to take a fresh look at projects.
  • Ask great questions - All too often, consultants focus too much and too early on answers and solutions. We believe that key collaborations occur only when the right questions are asked.
  • Be flexible - Projects don't always unfold as expected. This means we need to adapt and make sure our value is relevant to achieving project needs.
  • Do what you say you are going to do, be accountable and follow through.
  • Focus on results - Most projects require constant focus and commitment to getting tasks complete while keeping the long-term goals in mind at all times. This type of bi-modal approach sounds easy in principle, but requires experience, perspective and a practical means for getting things done in the right way. We call it, "doing tactical work with a strategic perspective".

We believe we should lead when necessary, supplement client staff when appropriate, and only gather information that is relevant to making good decisions. In this way, we provide the best value while also ensuring client staff has their "regular jobs" to do during projects.
